Transit Equity Day 2019

Transit Equity Day Lowcountry, Feb. 4, 2019
BEST FRIENDS OF LOWCOUNTRY TRANSIT·TUESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2019
National Transit Equity Day is held on the birthday of Rosa Parks. In Charleston we also remember the contributions to the struggle for freedom to move made by Mary Bowers in 1867 when she forced desegregation of the City’s Horse Drawn Streetcars. We honor Esau Jenkins; Civil Rights Era bus system which helped break the back of racial discrimination by bringing mobility and on board education to African Americans on the Sea Islands.
